I pledge allegiance to the flag. 00:00:23
United States of America. 00:00:25
And to the Republic for which we stand. 00:00:27
One nation under God. 00:00:29
Indivisible with liberty and justice. 00:00:31
Mr. Mayor. 00:00:38
Mr. Romano, I move, we approve the. 00:00:41
Consent agenda is presented. 00:00:44
2nd. 00:00:45
So moved and seconded discussion. 00:00:47
All in favor. 00:00:50
Hi. 00:00:50
There, we're going to go straight to it. 00:00:53
Michael. 00:00:57
Councilman. 00:01:00
We met our ups and downs. 00:01:02
Really appreciate your. 00:01:04
Your motivation and what should. 00:01:06
Done for the city. 00:01:08
And on behalf of the city, on the City Council. 00:01:10
We'd like to present you. 00:01:13
With this plaque that's. 00:01:15
You can hopefully. 00:01:18
This player proudly. 00:01:20
This is a plaque that just. 00:01:22
Kind of talks about what you've done. 00:01:24
And sincere recognition and appreciation for serving our community. 00:01:27
With dedication and integrity from 2008. 00:01:31
Through 2025. 00:01:34
Two of these 18 years, your leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to public service. 00:01:37
Help strengthen our city and improve the. 00:01:42
Of countless residents. 00:01:45
And I want to present this through. 00:01:46
Mike. 00:01:48
I think just your time here. Thank you. 00:02:18
1st I just want to thank every. 00:02:24
Everybody. Umm. 00:02:26
City Socorro. 00:02:27
People that have. 00:02:28
Voted me in all these years, put up with me on. 00:02:29
I got a lot of friends and family in the audience. Can we? 00:02:33
And we found that camera to the audience, please. 00:02:35
That I put up with me through these. 00:02:39
Long years, talked me off the ledge a few times, gave me. 00:02:41
Different perspectives on how to view things. Umm. 00:02:45
You know, just was always there for me and I really appreciate everything that that. 00:02:48
That the people that stood by my side. 00:02:53
Day by day. 00:02:55
It means a lot. 00:02:56
Never would have thought. 00:02:59
2004 graduated from UNM and. 00:03:00
Right away I had no doubt in my mind I was going to come to Coral and. 00:03:03
See what I can do to contribute and. 00:03:07
Got involved with coaching and the schools and. 00:03:09
I remember vividly it was 2006 and. 00:03:12
And I wanted to run for City Council, and I was. 00:03:15
Of course I had an overinflated vision of myself and. 00:03:18
Oh yeah, I can. 00:03:21
Young and. 00:03:23
I guess I'm kind of dumb, but. 00:03:24
And so I went and filled out the paperwork and it was like. 00:03:27
455 or support 50. 00:03:30
And I'm sitting Pat was. 00:03:34
That's longing still here and I'll sitting in the office and. 00:03:35
And I was getting ready to turn it in. 00:03:38
And that's phone rings. 00:03:41
And so he answers it and. 00:03:43
And I hear him talking and. 00:03:45
And I heard Pat say, Oh. 00:03:47
I'm looking at your name right now. 00:03:48
And so let me kind of be kind of laugh and and so. 00:03:50
So. 00:03:54
Had told him yeah, your son's gonna. 00:03:55
And he's like, put him on the phone. 00:03:57
So I get on the phone and and he's like. 00:04:00
What are you doing? 00:04:02
Has that one room for City Council? 00:04:03
He said no, you're not ready. I said, what do you mean I'm not ready? I'm ready. 00:04:05
Not really, I see. Say well, who you run against? 00:04:09
I said Cordy Hicks. 00:04:12
Oh no, you're absolutely not something. 00:04:13
If you do that, I will publicly support Gordy. You are not ready now. 00:04:15
And I was like, alright, alright. 00:04:21
So a couple years went by, continue to coach and stay involved and then. 00:04:23
2008 came along and. 00:04:27
There was number doubt this time, I said. 00:04:29
I don't care what people tell me, I'm going to do it so. 00:04:31
Must have knocked on every single door. 00:04:34
In town and. 00:04:36
Worked my **** off and. 00:04:38
And they did it so. 00:04:41
Just to go to show that I mean. 00:04:43
If you work hard. 00:04:45
You could do it. 00:04:46
And and you can see the benefits. 00:04:48
Of what you do. And that's, I think that's the one of the biggest things. 00:04:52
Being out here is you get to see the direct impact what you do. 00:04:56
In the community and. 00:05:00
And you know. 00:05:01
I've gained a lot of friends and. 00:05:03
Probably gained a lot of enemies, but I. 00:05:06
I don't regret anything. 00:05:08
I think that you know. 00:05:10
I don't regret any of the votes I've had. 00:05:13
I think that. 00:05:15
You know, we started to make some good progress and. 00:05:17
And I think you know. 00:05:19
Kind of what the plaque says. My pack was hopefully made and continued on. 00:05:21
Faith that the council and the mayor will continue on and. 00:05:25
And uh. 00:05:28
I, I tell people I don't, you know, I basically don't know what life is and. 00:05:29
In Socorro without being on City Council so. 00:05:33
It's a new chapter in my life and I'm looking forward to it. 00:05:36
And thank you. 00:05:40
Go down, we'll go down the. 00:05:42
Michael Gain. 00:05:50
I just want to thank you for being such a good friend of me. 00:05:52
And you're a good and great person film to me and to. 00:05:56
Our Sekolah Kennedy. 00:05:59
Community. 00:06:00
Thank you. 00:06:01
God bless you, continue to bless. 00:06:02
Yeah, my. 00:06:09
Since I ran, I was yours in my corner. I call you. I call you. Hey Mike, what about this? What about that I was leaning on you 00:06:11
for? 00:06:14
Information on how things run, proper procedures. 00:06:18
He was into the phone call back. 00:06:21
Always willing to give a different outlook, right? Like. 00:06:23
I'm looking one way and you're going, how about this? How about that? 00:06:27
Didn't always see eye to eye on everything but. 00:06:30
I don't know. 00:06:33
I thought it was always a really healthy relationship and I'll continue to call you. 00:06:35
See what you can do to help. 00:06:40
Go be as a counselor, as a young counselor, you, you offered a lot of help to me. I felt like I could lean on you so. 00:06:41
Thank you for that. Thank you for all your hard work. 00:06:46
And coaching too, you know, we coached at the same time since I was a coaching. 00:06:48
In a. 00:06:52
You know, good luck with everything in your life and I'll, I'll be calling brother. 00:06:54
For sure. 00:06:57
You know, Michael, as you said, you got involved with? 00:07:03
Helping the community at a very young age. 00:07:07
I think you're a stellar role model for other young people to get involved in. 00:07:10
In local government and state government for them to put their foot in the. 00:07:15
In and try to. 00:07:20
Contribute as Michael has. 00:07:21
He's it's evident that his commitment to the youth of Socorro is is. 00:07:23
Is the beyond explanation as coaching of the kids for so many years done such a wonderful job with that? 00:07:28
And you know what, Mike? I really, truly believe that. 00:07:36
All the youth that are here and. 00:07:40
Have learned from you and. 00:07:42
In order to go ahead and take that chance and get involved with helping other people because that's what you've you've done 00:07:44
through your. 00:07:48
Presence here on the in the on the Council and, and I'm going to miss your presence here. 00:07:53
On the Council in the future. 00:07:57
Uh. 00:08:07
It's been a few years since I had you in class. 00:08:08
And it's wonderful. And I see these two young characters saying. 00:08:12
That did an excellent job and. 00:08:18
You and. 00:08:21
You can be very proud. 00:08:25
Of the guardian Angel that you had, that you started. 00:08:27
In the right direction. 00:08:31
The working with. 00:08:35
Gave you a different perspective. 00:08:38
Of how to get. 00:08:41
And parents bond, which was wonderful. 00:08:42
You and that clerk, you're sitting to your right. 00:08:46
And which we had more? 00:08:49
Hopefully it's like this in Sakura. 00:08:51
And thank you for your time. 00:08:54
Experience. 00:08:56
Mike, we went to school together, we played together and we're both big sports guys and. 00:09:02
I mean. 00:09:07
I can reiterate what they've all said, but. 00:09:08
You know. 00:09:11
You paved the way for like our generation. I remember when you first ran and. 00:09:13
We worked together and you were like, man, we need, we need to step up our next, our next generation needs to step up so. 00:09:16
If it wasn't for you stepping out, maybe. 00:09:22
And and Mayor Basker gave me an opportunity. Maybe, maybe I wouldn't. 00:09:24
Done it. So I appreciate that and I appreciate your knowledge you. 00:09:28
Probably the most knowledgeable guy I know about. 00:09:32
The rules of order and everything else that goes on up here and. 00:09:35
I know that, uh. 00:09:38
For some reason, I don't think that's the last time I'm going to be working with you, so I'm not going to say bye, but I 00:09:40
appreciate everything, Mike. 00:09:43
I really do. 00:09:46
Mike, thank you for everything that you have done for the City of the Coral. 00:09:51
Thank you for always taking my calls when I would call you late at night. 00:09:55
Or whatever and always helping me with meetings. 00:09:58
We were always mentoring together and stuff, so thank you for everything. 00:10:02
God bless you always. 00:10:06
Mike and his family that. 00:10:12
You know, as you said, politics is politics. But. 00:10:14
I've seen you grow up. 00:10:17
I've been with your family. 00:10:19
Forever. 00:10:20
And you know, I think. 00:10:22
The problem is going to be as to who's going to keep me straight. 00:10:23
When you're gone because I think the. 00:10:27
Deals with the Co-op that deals with the budget that deals with. 00:10:29
Things that we did with the. 00:10:32
With the with the employees. 00:10:34
And and the other thing is that I think. 00:10:37
I think everybody's mentioned it. Damon mentioned it. 00:10:39
Joel. 00:10:41
The youth who you know, you really represent the youth, I think in Socorro as far as the vote is concerned. 00:10:44
And then that, I think is important that the youth don't. 00:10:50
Leave us as far as. 00:10:54
Being involved in city politics and I think you brought that to the forefront. 00:10:55
Although not your older SO. 00:10:59
That's that's a different. 00:11:01
Way older, but that's a, you know, that's maturation. 00:11:03
And the way things go in our city. 00:11:05
Joel and Damian the. 00:11:08
The the people that represent the young people, I'm not going to count you, Anton or Peter, but we're at Marianne. We're kind of 00:11:10
the. 00:11:13
We're kind of the old crowd and I think we just need to have. 00:11:17
More representation from the youth. 00:11:20
I think Joel do well. 00:11:23
You know, as your replacement. I think hopefully you'll. 00:11:25
Kind of guide him. 00:11:29
He was he was on the Fire Chief side, but. 00:11:31
As a counselor, I think you need to kind of. 00:11:33
Would be helpful to help him. 00:11:35
It's going to make a difference as to, like I said, the mayor does one thing. 00:11:42
The City Council is the. 00:11:45
The people that kind of keep the. 00:11:47
Administration straight as to which direction they're going to head to, unfortunately. 00:11:48
That's not happening at the federal level. 00:11:52
But you know that that's, I think that's really important and. 00:11:54
I think that was one of your major. 00:11:57
Like to me, that was one of your major achievements just to kind of keep us. 00:11:59
On focus. So thank you again for for being a counselor and. 00:12:03
And and somebody that I've, you know, known forever. 00:12:07
Thank you guys. You guys can go out dinner now so. 00:12:24
Serving in politics is not easy. 00:12:45
Especially today. 00:12:48
Excuse me if I got the crack up because. 00:12:50
It's kind of the monster. 00:12:52
You know, not because of. 00:12:55
You know, just the fact that somebody gives. 00:12:56
The time to be involved. 00:12:59
And a good one of you. 00:13:02
On this, Council are doing that. 00:13:03
Every day. 00:13:05
You live here. You work here. 00:13:06
Your friends are here and your families here. 00:13:08
And all that is a real commitment. 00:13:12
Like how many came back here? 00:13:16
After the after college week. 00:13:18
Musical orphans, I want to come on. 00:13:20
You know when we moved. 00:13:22
And I, I said, why are we here, you know? 00:13:26
But we were. 00:13:29
And someone I decided to get involved politically at a very young age. 00:13:31
Going to Santa Fe. 00:13:35
And see what. 00:13:37
The process was like back at the time. 00:13:37
Things are pretty much differently than what he did. 00:13:40
Both in Washington, the time I spent there. 00:13:43
Working for member of Congress or former governor? 00:13:45
And then the Legislature, you know, and being leader of the House for a while. 00:13:48
And you see that though how? 00:13:52
How politics basically works. 00:13:53
And I see that in this. 00:13:56
You know community as well too. You know I have our differences. 00:13:58
We all may not like what we do. We, you know. 00:14:01
The things that we all want. What's best for the saves of coral? 00:14:04
Now that goes for everybody. 00:14:07
Mayor, Councillors. 00:14:08
You know, and I think you know, we have a great community. 00:14:10
There's a lot of community offers. I think there's a lot of growth. 00:14:13
And I'm proud of my son. 00:14:17
As you know and uh. 00:14:19
Thank you. 00:14:20
Yeah, happy for. 00:14:29
Come on up. Come on. 00:14:33
You're talking loud enough. 00:14:37
That's my sister, Ashley, Public. 00:14:40
That, he said, get involved. 00:14:42
Get involved. No, get involved. 00:14:44
So I take that from his time here is. 00:14:47
Yeah. 00:14:50
Very nice. 00:15:02
Yeah. Thanks again, Michael, hopefully. 00:15:04
You know, remember us and come back two more years. 00:15:06
Be a new game, I think. 00:15:11
Yeah. Thank you. 00:15:12
OK, you're welcome today. Are you welcome to have dinner if you want. So yes, I know. Thank you for all coming. Thank you for 00:15:16
coming. Thank you guys. 00:15:20
Thank you. 00:15:23
Boy. 00:15:42
All right, we've got discussion killing the beautification program. Grant, who's going to be the spokesperson? 00:15:45
Ruby, OH. 00:15:53
Oh, the both of you guys look at you. 00:15:55
All right, 03, OK. 00:15:57
OK. 00:16:02
Tell us about the grant, how much you got? 00:16:04
And then you can go and. 00:16:07
Talked about it. 00:16:08
And if you don't know the answer, then the next one comes up. 00:16:09
Mr. Mayor, Council members, thank you for your time. 00:16:13
We're going to talk a little bit about the. 00:16:17
Belinda Grant, what we've done and what we plan for the future. 00:16:19
The whole point is to reduce dumping, cleanup problem areas and get the community involved. 00:16:24
In a consistent way. 00:16:30
It's not meant to be a one time cleanup. 00:16:31
It's meant to be an ongoing project that we can check and build on. 00:16:35
We started having cleanup groups. 00:16:40
Come out two Fridays a month. 00:16:42
Our first group went out on Friday the the 12th. 00:16:45
And it was a Socorro High School yearbook club. 00:16:48
They cleaned up, took. 00:16:52
Straight to the whatever they collected, they took straight to the landfill. 00:16:55
This Friday the 19th, the Crowell Middle School basketball team is scheduled to clean up. 00:17:00
The landfill area. 00:17:05
And we're looking for different schools, clubs, teams. 00:17:07
So now everything is. 00:17:10
Play song one group who just want to spread it around. 00:17:12
As part of the calendar grant, we've also placed dumpsters in areas where dumping has been an issue. 00:17:16
Like a Lieutenant Roldan. 00:17:22
The dumpsters at Blue Canyon are about 3/4 full. 00:17:25
And what they're. 00:17:29
Going pretty regularly. 00:17:30
The dungeon Shepherd is 100% full. 00:17:32
Which really shows the level dumping happening in that area. 00:17:35
Going forward, we're going to keep watching how fast these dumps fill out. 00:17:39
If a location keeps filling up. 00:17:44
Quickly, uh. 00:17:45
We're going to service monitor them. 00:17:47
Collect data as much as we can. 00:17:50
And we're going to concentrate on that area. 00:17:52
Another part of the calendar grant is recycling. 00:17:56
The community drop offs. 00:17:59
Is going to be placed at the Sands Motel 205. 00:18:02
California St. 00:18:06
That's going to be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. 00:18:08
We're going to be collecting alum. 00:18:12
Classics #1 Plastics. 00:18:14
And a mixed cardboard. 00:18:17
And this is going to be scheduled. 00:18:19
On the 1st and 3rd of each Saturday of each month. 00:18:22
Those cited everyday questions will be held. 00:18:26
At the same hotel. 00:18:29
And we're also asking a community to report any kind of graffiti, any kind they see, because the whole point of this is to clean 00:18:32
up the coral. 00:18:36
Anytime you see graffiti to please report it. 00:18:39
We're also tracking. 00:18:45
Any kind of recycling the landfill? 00:18:46
Any kind of data is extremely important. 00:18:48
We do have to turn that in for this grant. 00:18:51
The plan moving forward is to keep everything consistent. 00:18:55
Two cleanups a month rotating dumpsters. 00:19:00
They're needed regular cycling drop offs, working with schools, community groups and keeping records. 00:19:03
Especially for this grant. 00:19:11
You're going to be paying these. 00:19:13
Kids to clean up, right? 00:19:15
Correct. 00:19:16
Any other questions or microphone? 00:19:23
I wanna sign up. 00:19:25
Just if you guys know of any groups that would like to sign up. 00:19:27
They'll be cleaning Fridays. 00:19:30
From 10. 00:19:33
To 2:00 PM. 00:19:34
And we'll assign them a place to clean up and we'll give them $300. 00:19:36
For helping us out. 00:19:39
So if you guys know if anybody? 00:19:41
Here we AM. 00:19:43
They could contact me or Daryl. 00:19:45
So I just would like to use this opportunity to say. 00:19:49
That on our. 00:19:52
My civic app. 00:19:54
You can report graffiti and I will make sure to add you guys as the notifications. 00:19:55
If someone reports graffiti within Socorro but that can that is something that can be reported within the app. 00:20:00
Picture, location, all of it. 00:20:07
Anything else you ask? 00:20:11
One more thing we do try to use social media as best as we can just to let people know and our information is on the Flyers. 00:20:13
And we do give them a heads up of where these dumpers are going to be placed. 00:20:21
And so that would be put in the. 00:20:24
Monthly bill. 00:20:27
That's excellent. And how much was the grant? 00:20:28
One 25125 thousand so and it can be recurrent. 00:20:31
And Chris, as we already started, if you notice that place. 00:20:36
And Blue Canyon Rd. There was a. 00:20:40
Big a burned out house. 00:20:43
Drug paraphernalia all over. 00:20:46
Chris Mike Lucero, his group. 00:20:48
Actually, that was when the shooting happened. 00:20:52
They were actually cleaned up that whole area. 00:20:54
So we're working on. 00:20:56
Chief has given us. 00:20:58
The houses that have been burned. 00:21:00
And we're going to aggressively go to. 00:21:02
Clean all those up. 00:21:04
And then just put a lien against it. 00:21:05
We just recently had one up there on Pinion area. 00:21:07
That burn so that's. 00:21:10
It's it's all over the city. 00:21:13
So we're working on and. 00:21:15
These guys, they had a. 00:21:17
Hit the ground running. 00:21:18
We got those big 40 yarders and. 00:21:20
They're great. I mean, you guys, they've gotten really done a good job getting this going. 00:21:23
Thank you. 00:21:28
Question sounds great, sounds good. Thank you for sticking. 00:21:30
And get that, you just got to get the word out. I think that's the big thing, Paulo, is because. 00:21:34
We need to get the word out. 00:21:39
With a rubble claws and stuff. Thank you, Darrell. 00:21:41
OK. And. 00:21:46
New business. 00:21:48
About public forum. 00:21:49
Anybody here from the public point? 00:21:51
You guys work all work for the city then public here. 00:21:54
Anyway, but you're welcome to speak. 00:22:00
Steve. 00:22:03
Did you go to South Point? 00:22:06
I think the. 00:22:09
Put to The Who is that at? 00:22:11
I know S points in Vegas, I thought they always had it there. 00:22:14
I thought that's they always headed at the South Point casino. Was it at the? 00:22:18
Thomas and Mack. 00:22:21
Hello so I learned. 00:22:23
Learn anything new, invite anybody to come or. 00:22:29
OK, good. 00:22:33
When was the next big event, do you know? 00:22:35
Good morning tomorrow. 00:22:37
Marshall Good, good. 00:22:39
Anybody else? 00:22:41
Of course. 00:22:43
So I didn't leave. 00:22:46
You did. 00:22:48
So this is just kind of our rentals for the year for the Convention Center this we have one more rental that'll be on this 00:22:52
Thursday and it's another holiday party. So that's the only thing that's missing from this list. 00:22:58
Otherwise, this is what we're looking. 00:23:03
Like for. 00:23:04
The year of 2025. 00:23:06
So the topic. 00:23:08
Did get cut off a little bit? 00:23:09
All you really need to know is the blue is our security numbers and then the other two red are our bartenders and alcohol costs. 00:23:11
Everything else is going to be money that we brought in. 00:23:18
So yeah, I just kind of wanted to give you guys kind of a. 00:23:21
A little overview of what we were looking like this year and we brought in a good amount of money and. 00:23:23
Anybody has any questions or knows anybody that's looking to rent out the space? 00:23:28
I'm on my way and we'll get. 00:23:31
Worked out. We'll get something figured out. 00:23:33
Husband, that's like the who's who with everybody. Look at that. 00:23:35
Yeah, yeah, fantastic. 00:23:39
We've and we've had a lot of different things in there. We've had weddings in there, I mean conferences, funerals, we've had a 00:23:40
little bit of everything. 00:23:43
That wasn't this year. We had that motorcycle funeral. 00:23:48
Yeah, last question. 00:23:51
But fantastic, you've grown that. You've grown the. 00:23:52
The use of it tremendously. That's great. 00:23:55
Questions the job you know Mr. 00:23:59
I don't. I don't know if this pertains to it, but there's been some talk about the. 00:24:03
Loreal Heritage Center and what they're going to do with them down there. 00:24:08
And so I was wondering if we've learned anything about what might. 00:24:13
What could come our way here? 00:24:17
Well, you see some of these exhibits here. 00:24:19
I got tho this. Is this public information? 00:24:22
Well, we we have a lot of the artifacts. 00:24:27
And we haven't stored it. 00:24:29
At the center. 00:24:31
And they're alone. 00:24:33
We're still trying to get the monument. I'm trying to get the monument. 00:24:35
Either placed over there at the Convention Center. I'd like to have it placed on the Interstate, but I'm trying to work on that. 00:24:39
So that's that's where we're at. 00:24:45
But they're gonna, you know. 00:24:48
That's I don't know if you remember way back when I even offered to give $1,000,000 bond issue. 00:24:50
The habitual. 00:24:55
But I got turned down. 00:24:57
That just was not. It's just a. 00:24:59
Add place. 00:25:01
That's where we're at on that, but I guess you're gonna tear it down. 00:25:02
And I'm sure. 00:25:08
I mean, the doors and windows and metal and all that, that's got to be worth something over there. 00:25:09
The bricks, yeah. 00:25:14
But whoever's gonna say $800,000 to demolish it? 00:25:17
Yeah. 00:25:22
Last last weekend, 2 weekends ago, we had the Illuminati stroll. Everything on the Plaza follow. That went really well. We had 00:25:23
over 40 entries into the parade. 00:25:27
So it was an afraid that was almost over an hour long so. 00:25:32
I think this is the best the city has ever looked. 00:25:35
As far as decorations, the light parade. 00:25:38
The activity. 00:25:42
I think it's and and coming into town, I think the best that's ever. 00:25:43
As far as the lights are concerned. 00:25:48
So thank you. And then I think Councillor Occo. 00:25:50
Yeah, we'd like to tag along with that talking about the city. 00:25:54
We got the big food drive coming up this weekend from the. 00:25:58
Bottom of our hearts, we want to thank you. 00:26:01
The meal family. 00:26:04
Who still helps us? 00:26:05
Would like to thank the city. 00:26:06
And without the city, I don't think there's a way we can swing this. I know. 00:26:09
I can't believe how good the Turkey bingo went. 00:26:14
My great job. 00:26:16
Ruby, thank you. It's like they they make more than enough. 00:26:17
To even help, so I don't know where they decide to do the rest of but. 00:26:20
Man. 00:26:24
Big fruit drive this weekend. 00:26:25
I don't know if we can get a robotics out or not, but any families that need it? 00:26:27
That that need the good Christmas meal with the Turkey and all the trimmings and everything. 00:26:32
We will be behind San Miguel Church. It'll be a drive through again. 00:26:37
And it'll be from 11:50. 00:26:41
And we have goodies, uh. 00:26:44
We've stretched out, we get help from all over the place. My my youngest sister. 00:26:46
Is a professor at. 00:26:51
Arizona State. 00:26:52
And her students. 00:26:53
Are they two years in a row now they've made all the? 00:26:55
The paper stocking. 00:26:58
For the family members, for the little guys. 00:27:00
And then we have Angel and his crew that come up with all the trinkets for the stocking stuffers. 00:27:02
For the kids, so it's a big event and if. 00:27:08
Anybody knows anybody in need? 00:27:11
It's this Saturday. 00:27:13
From 10:00 to 11:50. 00:27:14
And then? 00:27:17
After that we have the the youth group putting on a Christmas festival from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the same spot. 00:27:18
So fam, it's all free. We feed them pictures with Santa. 00:27:25
Cookie decorate. I mean everything. It's like a big, huge festival. It's grown every year too, so it's a big day Saturday. 00:27:29
Thank you for your leadership. I mean, that's great. 00:27:36
As you continue this. 00:27:38
And your wife's? 00:27:39
And leadership we. 00:27:41
We've got the other two chiefs here. Chief Baca, you want to give us a? 00:27:44
Down a rundown on the tremendous job you guys did. 00:27:48
All right, Mayor Council, thank you for for your time. 00:27:57
So we have our annual Matanza fundraiser. This year. It was actually the best one we've had. 00:28:00
In all the years that we've done it. 00:28:05
Where we raised $10,200. 00:28:07
The last one was 7-8 hundred. So we, we, we've had a good year so. 00:28:10
That's going to allow us to take anywhere from 100 a 120 kids at $100 a kid. 00:28:14
Shopping which is going to go on this Thursday. 00:28:19
Starting at 5:30. 00:28:22
Will parade them from our fire station to the. 00:28:24
To the Walmart locally here and the. 00:28:26
Shop with all the firefighters and. 00:28:29
Spend their $100.00 gift card. 00:28:30
It's a good. 00:28:33
Final experience to see those kids you know smile and just. 00:28:34
Shopping, so it's a good deal. 00:28:39
So I'd like to thank a lot. I thank, thank some people. 00:28:41
I'd like to thank the Cole General Hospital. 00:28:45
For donations on us. 00:28:48
Cindy Wolf from Magdalena. 00:28:49
Leesburg's Auto. 00:28:51
Dana and Jerry. 00:28:53
Walmart, John Brooks, Grandpa Joe. 00:28:55
First State Bank. 00:28:58
Cheyenne and Bill Ross for their help. 00:28:59
All the Flyers and tickets together. 00:29:02
Anton Salome for allowing us to use the property. 00:29:05
And then the city. 00:29:09
All the city workers and members that help. 00:29:10
Put up the. 00:29:12
The tents and just get it all set up for for the event. 00:29:13
So I know that's a lot of work, so we appreciate that. 00:29:17
And then, uh. 00:29:19
Of course my staff were. 00:29:21
The long day cooking, you know, we, we started real early this year. We started about 10:00. 00:29:23
And we stayed there till about 10:00. So it's a long day they. 00:29:28
They did all the cooking and serving and stuff like that. My daughter and Renee for helping the. 00:29:31
You know, collect the tickets at the door. 00:29:37
And then last but not least, the mayor and the city of Socorro for allowing us to do this and the support and doing this without 00:29:39
them. 00:29:42
Without you guys. 00:29:46
This is impossible, so thank you guys for that. 00:29:47
And then again. 00:29:50
I got a list from the from the schools and. 00:29:54
Just to clarify everything. 00:29:56
We get calls all the time. How do I how do I get my kid on the list? 00:29:58
We have nothing to do with picking the kids that go on the list. I go to the superintendents office. I ask them to give me a. 00:30:01
A list of kids that they think that might need. 00:30:07
My needs, you know, a little extra. 00:30:11
And they, they, they do all the picking. I don't know how they go about it so. 00:30:13
Just to clarify it, we have nothing to do with the pics. 00:30:17
You know we do. 00:30:21
Like I said, I asked. I asked for 120 kids. They gave me a list of. 00:30:23
96 right now, so we still have a little. 00:30:26
We're still trying to. 00:30:29
Get a list to fight, you know a few more kids if you guys know anybody that might need something. 00:30:31
Let us know. We can get them on that list again. That's starting Thursday at 5:30. 00:30:35
So again, thank you for for all your support. You guys have any questions? 00:30:41
Thank you. Thank you for a great job. That's great. 00:30:45
Thank you guys. Keith Garcia. 00:30:48
Not to be. 00:30:50
I mean, that's, you know, that's really the kind of leadership we have in the city. 00:30:54
Councillor Ocampo, the chief, I mean the people that work here is just. 00:30:58
Really take interest in helping the kids in the. 00:31:01
In the community. 00:31:04
We started our 34th anniversary of Toys for Tots. It used to be called Toys from Cots to Cots. 00:31:06
About six years ago, we went with the Marine Corps tourists for TOTS, and it's a city of Socorro County. 00:31:12
And county. 00:31:18
Toys for Tots and we delivered throughout the county of Socorro. 00:31:19
Not only the city Alamo, Magdalena. 00:31:23
The Gita. 00:31:25
My wife and friends stay at Walmart for. 00:31:27
At least a month. 00:31:31
Collecting. 00:31:32
Matter of fact, right now this they're collecting for. 00:31:33
Since 10:00 this morning. 00:31:36
And they're going to stay there until they feel they. 00:31:38
A truck. A big truck. 00:31:40
Filled with toys. 00:31:43
So there. 00:31:44
There until either they. 00:31:45
Fill the truck or until they close. 00:31:46
And today was the first day that we started calling people to come and get their toys. 00:31:49
I think there's a. 00:31:54
Probably about 8. 00:31:56
8 to 10,000 toys that are going. 00:31:58
To the community. 00:32:00
Not only in the city, but the county. 00:32:01
We got a semi full of toys we. 00:32:04
About $10,000 worth of toys through the foundation. 00:32:07
Helped us get those. 00:32:10
And they dropped them off. 00:32:11
Probably about. 00:32:13
Two weeks ago. 00:32:14
We have the RISE program that came in and helped us sort all those toys and unbox them and. 00:32:15
Huggy and his crew came in and helped us take those boxes to the landfill. 00:32:21
And the big parade. 00:32:25
We had a. 00:32:27
Over 2000 toys that were thrown at the parade. 00:32:28
So congratulations, it's gonna. 00:32:32
Both of you guys, thanks. 00:32:34
Thank you, Thank you to my wife. 00:32:37
Without her. 00:32:39
I don't know what I'd be doing. Well, that goes for all of us and husbands. 00:32:40
Thank you again. Thank you. 00:32:45
And in old news. 00:32:46
We're going to be starting on the. 00:32:55
Road projects around the courthouse. 00:32:57
Have you noticed some of the? 00:32:59
For our kids, that's going to get done. 00:33:01
Cable Rd. We're still working on trying to get that. 00:33:03
Done the natural gas. 00:33:06
The station is where we've gotten the RFQ out. 00:33:09
The legislative session is starting on the 19th or so. 00:33:14
So our two top projects are police station, that's number one. 00:33:18
You can get money for Finley that would be fine. 00:33:22
Also, but we want to get. 00:33:25
Get the. 00:33:26
Police station done. 00:33:27
So if you have. 00:33:30
Contacts at the legislature, please. 00:33:31
I think they always like to see us. 00:33:33
Have the council and the mayor and. 00:33:35
We've got lobbyists. 00:33:38
So we're going to try to make sure that this is the governor's last hurrah. I think so. 00:33:40
She hopefully she'll. 00:33:45
Spread. Spread it around. 00:33:47
So that's one of the things that. 00:33:49
I don't know what's going to happen with our medical insurance in January. 00:33:51
Nothing in January, but they're looking at how to attend the life. 00:33:55
Question about that or budget, I haven't seen the. 00:34:01
Gross receipts right now. 00:34:04
Have you got anything? 00:34:07
Always Ruby no. 00:34:09
No, Celeste, we're still holding our breath. 00:34:11
But is there any other questions? 00:34:15
Activity in the city that you guys. 00:34:18
Have. 00:34:20
Just again to let you know that. 00:34:23
I know Chief Garcia told me that they were still looking at. 00:34:25
The people that were in that shooting area, that all that. So that's still going on. 00:34:29
And then you heard about all the horrible stuff that's been. 00:34:33
This happening this this week at Brown University. 00:34:35
In Australia, just unbelievable. 00:34:38
So, you know, that's something that I'm so. 00:34:40
Grateful to the State Police for. 00:34:44
Acting the way they did and catching the perpetrator right away, that was. 00:34:46
Really good. 00:34:50
OK, so we've got. 00:34:51
So personnel matters. We're getting sued for anything. 00:34:53
Anybody who knows about? 00:34:57
Personnel changes. I've got Darius Silva. 00:34:59
Completed probation gas Leo Peterson. 00:35:02
A Much of the Lieutenant at the fire gave so so fire to the. 00:35:05
Go to Lieutenant. 00:35:08
To Captain Daniel Pacheco, we met him as promotion to assistant chief. 00:35:10
Senior. 00:35:15
Mr. Mayor. 00:35:18
Partridge, like a motion to approve the personnel changes, is read. 00:35:19
I second moved and seconded all in favor. 00:35:23
Currently, then, we've got. 00:35:26
Jimmy Cost LLC. 00:35:30
Costanza Community Kitchen. 00:35:32
407 Center St. Catering. 00:35:35
Benefit. 00:35:38
The community kitchen, That's a communication, yeah. 00:35:41
And and then Jared Marcus, who's been around for a long time, he's just getting his photography business, but. 00:35:47
I see his stuff all over Facebook. 00:35:52
So that's another business. Jared Marcus Photography. 00:35:54
Mr. Mayor. 00:35:58
Making a motion to approve the business registrations is read. 00:36:01
But that's all in favor. 00:36:04
And that's all we got. 00:36:07
Till January the 6th, 20. 00:36:09
26. 00:36:11
Merry Christmas. 00:36:13
Happy New Year. 00:36:17
Happy New Year. 00:36:19
